Simon Rawlinson, Head of Strategic Research and Insight, Arcadis UK
Simon heads the Arcadis Strategic Research and Insight team. He has over 20 years’ experience in construction and built environment research and innovation. He is a well-known commentator in the construction industry, has regularly contributed to Building magazine and other publications since 1995 and is an active speaker on the construction sector conference circuit.
Simon has been closely involved in a number of government initiatives to improve construction industry performance. He actively participated in the development of the UK Government’s digital design strategy and served on the Executive Board of the CIC, the industry body representing professional bodies in the construction industry. Simon previously chaired the research committee of the British Council for Offices.
Simon is currently a member of the Construction Leadership Council Board. He has played a key role in the development of the Construction Industry Sector Deal focused on digital, manufacture and whole life performance and is currently part of the task group dealing with Covid19 recovery.
Jonathan Falkingham MBE, founder & creative director, Urban Splash
As an architect, Jonathan has been doing it in the North West since 1991, when he set up super fresh design practice, shedkm.
He founded Urban Splash in 1993, with the lovely Mr Bloxham and has been the creative force behind big projects ranging from Fort Dunlop to his own award-winning house in Liverpool. Jonathan has day to day responsibility for creative strategy and design direction and continues to be highly committed to good architecture – amongst his other roles he acts as a trustee of the RIBA.
Silvia Miligari, secretary general of the European Organisation of the Sawmill Industry
Silvia has extensive experience in the use of wood as an environmentally sound and sustainable material, and in European affairs and policies related to the timber industry.
In this webinar she showcases how different countries in Europe are adapting their policies to promote the use of timber in order to achieve net zero and meet their obligations under the Paris agreement.
Silvia holds a M.Sc. degree in European law and has held numerous positions focusing on the promotion of wood working industries across European, including via trade promotion, research and in environmental matters.
