A New House For London - living in shipping container houses

Arup engineers, Carl Turner Architects, CBMM and The Building Centre have teamed up to push the design boundaries of shipping container housing. "A New House For London" explores the possibilities of living in shipping container houses that are built for modern, urban lifestyles with seamlessly adaptable spaces and innovative technology throughout.

The building will be located outside The Building Centre in Store Street, Central London. Free to visit, it will be open 10-5pm, from 19 September until 17 October.

Building with timber frame technology - STA event in Bristol

On 30 September, the Structural Timber Association is holding an event at Marriott Hotel City Centre in Bristol exploring the ‘why, what and how’ to build using timber frame technology - "From concept to completion." 

The conference covers all the main aspects of building in timber and is designed mainly for architects, contractors, housebuilders, engineers, and quantity surveyors who have an interest in learning more about using the material for use in upcoming projects.

Luxury Packaging London 2015

Everything is set for the second edition of Packaging Innovations London & Luxury Packaging 2015, the main UK event on branding and packaging of prestige products.

The conference will take place on 16 & 17 September at Olympia, London. Speakers include representatives from top brands including: Jeremy Lindley, design leader – Global Brands, Diageo; Ann Dunne, head of product quality & development, Harrods; Kate Shaw, global creative director; Crabtree & Evelyn and Kate Stone, managing director, Novalia. 6th International Hardwood Conference in Copenaghen

Registrations to the forthcoming 6th International Hardwood Conference are still open.

The event, organised by European Timber Trade Federation (ETTF) and European Organisation of the Sawmill Industry (EOS), together with the Danish Sawmill Association and Danish Timber Trade Federation, will take place from 16 to 18 September in Copenaghen, Denmark.

Hardwood producers and importers from around the world will attend to discuss core trade issues and hear keynote speakers.

BMF Timber Forum 2015 to be held in Coventry

The next British Merchant Federation (BMF) Timber Forum will be held at the BMF Coventry Office on Tuesday 1st December, to commence at 10 o’clock.

The aim of the Timber Forum is to support merchant members and their suppliers in the timber and wood products market. It will do this through liaison and representation with other trade and regulatory bodies, by sharing best practice and by disseminating information and gathering views on legislation, product and building standards and other issues that may affect trading.
