Responsible Forest Management takes centre stage on FSC Friday 2018

On Friday 28 September 2018, FSC-certified businesses, FSC members, schools and organizations all around the world will host a series of events to support, celebrate and raise awareness of responsible forest management and the role that FSC plays in it.

People are invited to look for the FSC logo and consider the sourcing of the products they buy in a creative and entertaining way.

"Every year the threat to our forests increases, in the form of environmental change and illegal logging," explains FSC. "For over 20 years, FSC has worked to take care of forests and the people, plants, and animal species that depend on them."

"FSC Friday is about sharing that message, so that more people recognize the role we play and can help us turn the tide against global deforestation."

Last year, businesses, schools and environmental groups in over 30 countries took part.

A pack of UK-adapted, FSC Friday digital resources is available to eligible organisations upon request from [email protected]

FSC certificate and licence holders can also download editable FSC Friday resources from the FSC Marketing Toolkit.

Forestry Commission England celebrates 100 years of forestry at 2018 APF show

Forestry Commission England and Forest Research have joined forces to celebrate 100 years of forestry at the 2018 APF show.

APF is the UK’s largest woodland and forestry related show and takes place between 20-22 September 2018 at the Ragley Estate in Warwickshire.

The Forestry Commission England marquee will celebrate 100 years of the Forestry Act and the Forestry Commission. Experts will be on hand to provide advice and support to the forestry sector and landowners who are looking to create and manage woodland; explore the benefits to people, wildlife and timber of the public forest estate; provide information on tree pests and diseases and how to reduce the threat of them; showcase Forest Research’s innovative science and research.

The Forestry Commission, RFS and representatives from the new Forestry Apprenticeship Trailblazer group will also be in the Forest Workers’ Zone of APF to talk career development and how to break into the industry.

An in-depth Forestry Commission seminar programme will run over the three day event, covering topics including future incentives, timber markets, woodland creation and plant health challenges. More details below:
