CTI and Proskills launch survey on skill shortages within Timber Industry


The Confederation of Timber Industry (CTI) and Proskills have launched the largest employer skill survey ever undertaken in the UK's Timber Industry Supply Chain.

The research aims to identify the current level of skills shortages and gaps in education provision within the whole Timber Industry Supply Chain, from forestry to builders’ merchants and manufacturers. It will be distributed to businesses and other interested parties through trade associations, research institutes and training providers operating in the UK.

Tony Miles appointed as new CTI Director

Tony Miles, Managing Director of International Timber, has been appointed as Director of the Confederation of Timber Industries [CTI].

Tony Miles, Managing Director of International Timber said: “I am very pleased to be joining the Board and looking forward to making substantial progress in improving standards throughout the supply chain on responsible sourcing and product quality. . After working in the timber supply chain for more than 35 years I am looking forward to being a vocal advocate of the industry. We have always been too fragmented. The CTI gives the industry an exciting opportunity to speak with a single voice, pulling together even more to promote timber and take on competing materials.”
