CTI Chief Executive joins Trade Association Forum Board

The Trade Association Forum (TAF) has announced that Dirk Vennix, Chief Executive of the Confederation of Timber Industries, joins the Board with immediate effect as non-executive director. Dirk Vennix will represent the 1-10 staff band of membership subsequent to a formal election process amongst TAF membership to fill the vacancy after the previous incumbent stood down.

Dirk Vennix said: “I have always been a strong supporter and user of TAF services over the years and I know from personal experience that the forum provides invaluable advice and resources for many trade bodies. This is an exciting period for the Trade Association Forum with the upcoming review of the Forum’s vision and strategy which will determine its future direction. I am looking forward to helping TAF grow in terms of membership and revenue streams as well as providing members in the 1-10 staff band with any support they need on strategy, communications campaigns, stakeholder engagement and issues management.”

On 24 September 2015, the CTI sponsored the Timber Trader of the Year at the TTJ Awards. The event took took place at The Landmark Hotel in London gathering around 330 timber industry guests.

The first CTI supporters meeting took place on 23 September 2015 at CILIP, in London. It gathered more than 30 representatives across the whole Timber supply chain.

Peter Hindle MBE appointed as first CTI Chairman

Peter Hindle MBE has been appointed as the first Chairman of the newly formed Trade Association, the Confederation of Timber Industries [CTI], as of 1 September 2015.

His key roles are to support the early formation of its Board with up to six senior business executives from all parts of the timber supply chain as well as the establishment of governance and the development of its strategy for tackling some of the big issues and opportunities within the UK’s Timber industry, in particular those based around: • Sustainability; • Skills and Education; • Economic contribution of the industry

Peter Hindle MBE said: “I am delighted to take on the challenging role of CTI Chairman. After 45 years in the builders’ merchants industry, this is an exciting and influential position. I am looking forward to working with the CTI and helping to grow the confederation within the industry.  The forecast and optimism within the timber supply chain looks set to improve over the coming year and this can only bring a positive impact to the CTI.”
